Herbal Tonics for Cardiovascular System

There are several natural herbal remedies that have been used historically and are proven scientifically to improve

Garlic

Garlic taken regularly can optimize cholesterol levels and improve cardiovascular system function. It can be added to

your diet easily. As little as one to two garlic cloves (not bulbs!) taken daily have been shown to have benefits. Energetically, garlic is significantly heating and drying and is not appropriate for all people on an extended basis.

Cholesterol is closely related to heart disease. When your body makes too much of it, it can clog up the bloodstream, which naturally leads to problems at the pump. Therefore, anything that is effective against cholesterol will also help lower the risk of heart disease. Garlic is one such agent. The tiny garlic clove may play a big role in reducing the risk of heart disease, heart attacks, and stroke.

Hawthorne (Crataegus spp.)

Widely recognized as a cardiovascular tonic, hawthorn berry relaxes the heart while supporting its ability to produce and sustain energetic output. Since the heart never gets a vacation, the rejuvenating effect of hawthorn may be the next best thing. Hawthorn berries are used in traditional medicine in the treatment of chronic heart failure, high blood pressure, irregular heart beat, and digestive problems. They also have mild diuretic properties and a beneficial impact on cholesterol.

While hawthorn has been extensively studied and widely used in Europe for heart failure, its general effect on the heart is relaxing and toning, improving overall fitness. Furthermore, hawthorn’s multiple actions in the circulatory system are synergistic with many other cardio-friendly nutrients toward the goal of improved cardiovascular health. Hawthorne has been used extensively throughout history to improve cardiovascular system function. Science has validated this use through many modern day studies. Hawthorne is balanced energetically (as opposed to being really hot or drying in nature; see garlic above) and can be taken safely by most people.
